MP CM Chouhan steps down, and Mohan Yadav takes over

BHOPAL, DEC 11  :   Scotching speculation of every kind, Dr Mohan Yadav – a legislator who accomplishes missions while maintaining an extremely low profile – is all set to assume the mantle of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister after being unanimously chosen as the BJP Legislature Party leader here on Monday subsequent to emerging as the ‘favourite’ of both the apex leadership and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.

After the meeting, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan tendered his resignation to Governor Mangubhai Patel at the Raj Bhavan.
Later, Yadav met the Governor and staked his claim vis-à-vis government formation.

Chouhan was in the saddle for approximately 17 years but his record tenure was not an unbroken one owing to a Congress interregnum that lasted 15 months.
Yadav represents Ujjain South in the Assembly. His name was proposed by Mr Chouhan and seconded by bigwigs Narendra Singh Tomar, Kailash Vijayvargiya, Prahlad Patel and others. His selection was formally announced by BJP state head Vishnu Datt Sharma.

Yadav expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President Jagat Prakash Nadda, Union Home Affairs and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, Mr Chouhan, Mr Sharma, etc for bestowing the “massive responsibility on a diminutive worker such as me.”

Later interacting with media representatives, Yadav averred, “the state’s development caravan – which Mr Chouhan took forward – shall advance relentlessly under me in keeping with the expectations of the populace.

The sentiment ‘Modi is in Madhya Pradesh’s mind and vice versa’ will be strengthened. This is the fifth occasion on which a BJP dispensation is forming in the state.”
Felicitating Yadav, Chouhan wrote in social media, “I am confident that – under Prime Minister Modi’s skilful guidance – Dr Yadav shall take Madhya Pradesh to fresh heights of progress and development.”

The saffron camp emerged victorious in 163 constituencies during the recent Assembly poll for the formation of the state’s 16th Vidhan Sabha.(UNI)
