Monsoon Woes: Three killed, crops damaged in Marathwada

Aurangabad, Sep 1 : Three persons, including a minor, were killed as vigorous monsoon continued to lash the Marathwada region Today.
The fatal mishaps, reported on Tuesday, occurred in the district of Nanded; in the first incident from Nanded, three were swept away in the floods.
The trio deceased have been identified as Dnyaneshwar Waghmode (32), Umesh Madebainwad (26) and Kamlakar Gadale (15).
In the second incident, three youths from Beed’s Javalgaon had went to fishing in the gushing Murambi lake and were washed away.
The alert locals managed to save two of them while one Dharmaraj Gavane is still missing.
Meanwhile, the heavy rains have damaged kharif crops across the Marathwada’s eight districts and also led to the increase in the level of various dams in the region.
In Nanded, water from the Vishnupuri dam is being released into the Godavari river at a speed of 942 cubic meters per second.
In Aurangabad, traffic on the Dhule-Solapur National Highway was disrupted as landslides were reported at 13 places on the Autram ghat section in the Kannad taluka.
About 80 vehicles stuck in the ghat were evacuated last night. It is likely to take two to three days to clear the entire ghat road.
In Jalna, excess rainfall was recorded in the eight revenue boards. The downpour has inundated the fields of sugarcane, cotton and maize.
In Parbhani, heavy rains lashed Hadgaon and Kasapuri Mandal in the Pathri taluka.
While, the India Meteorological Department has forcast more rains for Marathwada in the next two days.(UNI)
