Modernisation of agriculture going on in full swing in Hamirpur

Hamirpur (HP), April 21:  With the changing environment, the nature of farming in the country and the state of Himachal Pradesh has also changed with its Hamirpur district spending an amount of about 3.5 crore rupees under agricultural mechanisation schemes for purchase of modern equipment, helping thousands of farmers to get better crops.

It was possible only due to the help extended by the government agencies for the purchase of the Modern equipment right from sowing to the harvesting and threshing of the crops.

Under the Agricultural Mechanization Sub Plan, a subsidy of 50 percent or a maximum of three lakh rupees is being provided to farmers on agricultural machinery such as tractors (20-40 HP).

Similarly, there is a provision for grant of 50 percent or maximum of 25 thousand rupees on power weeders.

To ensure successful implementation of this scheme in Hamirpur district, in the year 2020-21, 54 tractors (20-40 HP) and 62 power weeders were made available to the farmers, says Jeet Singh, Deputy Director of Agriculture, Hamirpur. .

In the last financial year, about one crore 74 lakh rupees have been spent under this scheme in the district.

Under the state agricultural mechanization program, grants are also being provided to the farmers on the purchase of other types of tools. There is a provision of 50 percent grant on brush cutters, chaff cutters and battery less solar pumps etc.

In the year 2020-21 , 88 brush cutters , 62 power weeders , 1112 sprayers , 1806 chaff cutters , 14 maize – wheat threshers and 37 rotavators have been provided to farmers under this program in Hamirpur district .

Apart from this, a custom hiring center has also been set up in the district at a cost of ten lakh rupees. During the period, the entire amount of about Rs one crore 78 lakhs has been spent in the district.(UNI)
