MLA Anwar who returns from Africa after oppn denanded his removal, says he would focus on entity in Africa

Malappuram, Oct 16 : Businessman-cum-politician, PV Anwar, MLA, who represents Nilambur constituency in the Kerala Assembly, has said he had lost all interests to do any business in Kerala and would focus on his new enterprise in Africa.

Addressing the media here, after returning from Africa today, Anwar said he had lost all interests for Kerala in doing business but would work for his constituency.

On the queries about his absence in the Assembly, Anwar said he represents a responsible party and would work accordingly. Responding to the query raised by the opposition leader V D Satheesan in the Assembly on his continuous absence, Anwar said the Congress leaders need not light a torch on him but better do it on their own leaders in New Delhi.

Pointing out the prolonged abstinence of Anwar in the Assembly, Satheesan had on Wednesday demanded the resignation of the MLA if his absence continued for 60 days.

The MLA, who returned from West Africa and reached his house in Nilambur on Friday, had responded earlier through a Facebook video that he does not want Satheesan’s advice.

Anwar was re-elected from Nilambur in Malappuram in the 2021 Assembly elections. However, he has been away in Africa for a long time during the last phase of his term as a legislator representing the ruling LDF. However, he returned to Nilambur after he was chosen by the ruling LDF to contest again in Nilambur as a CPI(M)-independent.

A businessman-cum-politician, Anwar fled to Sierra Leone once again. He is being absent continuously in Assembly sessions.

The check dams built by Anwar in Kakkadampoyil have also been a controversial topic for long. Despite the high court ordering the demolition of the illegal check dam, the construction remained in-tact.

Of late, the new district collector of Malappuram N Tej Lohit Reddy has ordered the demolition of four check dams, built in Kakkadampoyil of Koodaranji, owned by the MLA.(UNI)
