HYDERABAD/VIJAYAWADA, NOV 29 : A Mega Kisan Mela 2022 was held in Vijayawada on Monday as part of the 5th Edition of the Baroda Kisan Pakhwada, an annual farmer outreach event, according to Bank of Baroda (BoB), one of India’s top public sector banks.

BOB stated in a statement that “Baroda Kisan Pakhwada” was created to enable the Bank in enhancing engagement with the agricultural community and raise knowledge about various agri products, schemes, and delivery channels given by Bank of Baroda as well as actions done by the Government to benefit farmers.

Man Mohan Gupta, Chief General Manager and Zonal Head – Hyderabad Zone, Bank of Baroda, officially opened the Mega Kisan Mela.

Speaking at the event, Gupta stated, “Agriculture is a significant industry in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, creating jobs and supporting a big population.

Our goal is to inform the agricultural community about the many agriloans and banking services that are offered, as well as the various agri initiatives started by the government, through this farmer meet. This will make it possible for our farmer customers to receive the appropriate assistance when needed, boosting their income.

As of September 30, 2022, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh had made advancements in the agricultural sector worth more than Rs 12,000 crore.

To engage and reach the greatest number of customers during this year’s “Baroda Kisan Pakhwada,” 394 branches from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are organising a multitude of programmes, including farmer meetings, choupals, soil testing camps, and livestock health checkup camps.

Over 11,000 farmers in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh were assisted by Bank of Baroda last year under the Baroda Kisan Pakhwada programme.

The Bank will inform farmers in detail about various agricultural lending products, including the Baroda Kisan Credit Card, tractor loan, gold loan, financing to Self Help Groups (SHGs)/ Joint Liability Groups (JLGs), credit for agriculture-related activities, etc., through outreach programmes like farmer meetings and Kisan Melas.

To make it easier for the agricultural sector to apply for loans, the Bank has also offered digital banking services.

The Atmanirbhar Bharat Package’s lending schemes, such as the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF), Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund (AHIDF), Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), and PM Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises Scheme, will also be promoted by Baroda Kisan Pakhwada (PM-FME).(PHN)
