Marathwada registers 3,208 COVID-19 cases, 101 fatalities

Aurangabad, May 22:The Marathwada region of Maharashtra registered 3,208 COVID-19 cases and 101 fatalities during the past 24 hours, health authorities informed today.

Details from all the district headquarters collected by UNI show that out of the eight districts of the region, Latur district was worst-affected as it recorded 531 new cases and 29 deaths, followed by Aurangabad which had 430 cases and 23 deaths, Osmanabad had 514 new cases and 13 deaths, Jalna had 382 cases and 11 death, Beed recorded 752 cases and 8 deaths, Parbhani registered 408 cases and eight deaths, Nanded 91 cases and five deaths and Hingoli registered 100 cases and four deaths.

Meanwhile, during the past 24 hours, 29,644 fresh cases of COVID-19 were recorded across the state, taking the total number of infections to 55,27,092.

The state also registered 555 more deaths, taking the overall death toll to 86,618.

Meanwhile, a record 44,493 patients recovered in the state, taking the total number of recoveries to 50,70,801.

The state’s recovery rate currently stands at 91.74 per cent and the fatality rate is 1.57 per cent.

At present, there are 3,67,121 active cases across the state undergoing treatment at different COVID-19 centres and hospitals, added the health authorities.

In view of the second wave, strict restrictions have been extended up to May 31.(UNI)
