Marathwada region reports 5,486 Covid cases

Aurangabad, April 6: Eight districts of Maharashtra’s Marathwada region reported 5,486 novel Coronavirus cases and 81 deaths in a single day due to COVID-19, health authorities here told media Today.

The region is worst affected due to the pandemic for over one month.

Details from all the district headquarters collected by UNI show that out of the eight districts of the region, Aurangabad was the worst affected, which recorded the highest number of positive cases ie 1,440 cases and 26 deaths, followed by Nanded with 906 new cases and 25 deaths, Jalna registered 524 new cases and 11 deaths, Parbhani had 553 cases and 8 deaths, Latur had 804 cases and 5 deaths, Beed 575 cases 3 deaths, Osmanabad 423 cases and 2 deaths and Hingoli had 423 cases and a single death.

Meanwhile, during the past 24 hours total of 47,288 fresh cases of COVID-19 highest spike out across the state, bringing the total number of infections in the state to 30,57,885.

The state also registered 155 more deaths, taking the death toll to 56,033.

Meanwhile, a total of 26,252 patients recovered and were discharged, taking the total number of recoveries to 25,49,075 across the state.

The state’s recovery rate currently stands at 83.36 percent and the fatality rate is 1.83 percent.

At present there are 4,51,375 active patients across the state undergoing treatment at different COVID-19 centers and hospitals, they added.

In view of rising cases, the state government has imposed strict restrictions and weekend curfew across the state under the initiative of ‘ break the chain ‘.(UNI)
