Marathwada region registers 7,497 Covid cases, 171 fatalities
Aurangabad, April 29 : Covid situation continues to remain grim in the eight districts of Marathwada region of Maharashtra as the region recorded highest spike 7,497 Covid positive cases and fresh 171 fatalities were reported in the past 24 hours, according to the health authorities.
Details from all the district headquarters collected by UNI show that out of the eight districts of the region,Aurangabad district was the worst-affected, in which recorded the highest number with 1,314 cases and 37 deaths , followed by Latur had 1203 cases and 29 deaths ,Nanded with 769 new cases and 24 deaths,Jalna 816 cases and 22 deaths, Beed had 1346 cases and 19 deaths,Parbhani registered 1018 cases and 18 deaths, Osmanabad 872 cases 11 deaths and Hingoli registered 140 new cases and 11 deaths.
Meanwhile, during the past 24 hours, 63,309 fresh cases of COVID-19 were recorded across the state, mounting the total number of infections to 44,73,394.
The state also registered 985 more deaths, taking the death toll to 67,214.
Meanwhile, a record 61,181 patients were recovered in the state, taking the total number of recoveries to 37,30,729.
The state’s recovery rate currently stands at 83.4 per cent and the fatality rate is 1.5 per cent.
At present, there are 6,73,481 active patients across the state undergoing treatment at different COVID-19 centres and hospitals, they added.
In view of the rising number of cases, the state government again imposed strict restrictions in the state till May 1 under the initiative of ‘break the chain’, exempting emergency services.(UNI)
