Marathwada region registers 7,468 Covid-19 cases, 158 fatalities
Aurangabad, April 22:Covid situation continues to remain grim in the eight districts of the Marathwada region of Maharashtra as the region recorded the highest 158 Covid fatalities and fresh 7,468 coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, according to the health authorities.
Details from all the district headquarters collected by UNI show that out of the eight districts of the region, Aurangabad was the worst-affected, which recorded the highest number with 1,207 cases and 34 deaths, followed by, Latur had 1668 cases and 28 deaths, Nanded with 1372 new cases and 25 deaths, Osmanabad had 767 cases and 23 deaths, Parbhani registered 512 cases and 21 deaths, Jalna registered 796 new cases and 17 deaths, Beed had 1047 cases and 5 deaths and Hingoli had 199 cases and 5 deaths.
Meanwhile, during the past 24 hours, 67,468 fresh cases of COVID-19 were recorded across the state, mounting the total number of infections to 40,27,827.
The state also registered 568 more deaths, taking the death toll to 61,911.
Meanwhile, a record 54,985 patients were recovered in the state, taking the total number of recoveries to 32,68,449.
The state’s recovery rate currently stands at 81.15 percent and the fatality rate is 1.54 percent.
At present, there are 6,95,747 active patients across the state undergoing treatment at different COVID-19 centers and hospitals, they added.
In view of the rising number of cases, the state government again going to impose strict restrictions from 2000 hours tonight in the state till May 1 under the initiative of ‘break the chain’, exempting emergency services. (UNI)
