Marathwada region registers 7,403 Covid cases, 134 fatalities
Aurangabad, April 30:Covid situation continues to remain grim in the eight districts of Marathwada region of Maharashtra as the region recorded highest spike of 7,403 cases and fresh 134 fatalities in the past 24 hours, according to the health authorities.
Details from all the district headquarters collected by UNI show that out of the eight districts of the region, Latur district was the worst-affected which recorded the highest number with 1,134 cases and 31 deaths, followed by Nanded had 816 cases and 24 deaths, Parbhani had 1265 cases and 21 deaths ,Aurangabad with 1061 new cases and 21 deaths, Osmanabad 783 cases and 18 deaths, Jalna had 677 cases and 8 deaths, Hingoli registered 197 cases and 6 deaths and Beed 872 cases and 5 deaths .
Meanwhile, during the past 24 hours, 66,159 fresh cases of COVID-19 were recorded across the state, mounting the total number of infections to 45,39,553.
The state also registered 771 more deaths, taking the death toll to 67,985.
Meanwhile, a record 68,537 patients were recovered in the state, taking the total number of recoveries to 37,99,266.
The state’s recovery rate currently stands at 83.69per cent and the fatality rate is 1.5 per cent.
At present, there are 6,70,301 active patients across the state undergoing treatment at different COVID-19 centres and hospitals.
In view of the rising number of cases, the state government has extended strict restrictions in the state till May 15 under the initiative of ‘break the chain’, exempting emergency services.
In this regards notification was issued by the state chief secretary SitaramKunte on last night.(UNI)
