Aurangabad, Jun 12 : The Marathwada region of Maharashtra recorded 562 new cases of COVID-19 and 29 fatalities during the past 24 hours, health authorities informed Today.

Details from all the district headquarters collected by UNI show that out of the eight districts of the region, Latur district was the worst-affected recording 63 new cases and 10 deaths, followed by Aurangabad 113 cases and 9 deaths, Parbhani had 33 new cases and 3 deaths, Beed 130 cases and 2 deaths, Jalna recorded 45 cases and 2 deaths,Osmanabad 123 cases and single death, Nanded had 44 cases and single death and Hingoli had 11 cases and single death.

Meanwhile, during the past 24 hours, 11,776 fresh cases of COVID-19 were recorded across Maharashtra, taking the total number of infections in the state to 58,87,853.

The state also registered 406 more deaths, taking the death toll to 1,06,367.

Meanwhile,8,104 patients recovered in the state, taking the total number of recoveries to 56,16,857.

The state’s recovery rate jumps to 95.4 per cent while the fatality rate stands at 1.81 per cent.

At present, there are 1,61,704 active cases across the state undergoing treatment at various COVID-19 centres and hospitals, added the health authorities.(UNI)
