Marathwada Rain: Alarming situation in Nanded, Parbhani districts

Aurangabad, Maharashtra: The southwest monsoon rains, accompanied by lightning have been lashing for the fifth consecutive day on Tuesday in Marathwada, which claimed three lives in the Nanded district and damaging several hectors of land.
Reports reaching here from the headquarters of Nanded and Parbhani stated that three persons lost their lives include, Sainath Pramod Landage, an eight-year-old boy from Kaparwadi in Mukhed taluka was swept away in the floods, while Shivram Chintale from Lohgaon in Biloli taluka and Dinesh Keshavrao Pawar from Ganatandya in Panshevadi in Kandhar taluka were electrocuted.

77 villages in the Nanded district have been affected and more than 3,000 hectares of farmland have been severely damaged due to heavy rains in the district administration informed.

Meanwhile, the third gate of the Vishnupuri project, which supplies water to Nanded city, was opened on Monday afternoon because of a spurt of the inflow of water from the upper reaches.

A report from Parbhani district stated that Heavy rains disrupted life in Parbhani district due to heavy rains. Many people’s houses were damaged due to entering rainwater of the left canal of Jayakwadi flowing near Parbhani city. Municipal Corporation, fire brigade, police administration, and people’s representatives with the help of JCB machine changed the way of water flow.

Meanwhile, several rivers in the district were flooded and roads were washed away. Traffic was jammed on several routes and many villages were cut off, the report added.

Even, the downpour that started last evening in Aurangabad city, as well as surrounding areas, continued till late at night. Some parts of the Jalna district also received good rains yesterday.

Heavy rains are expected in Jalna, Aurangabad, Nanded, Parbhani, and Hingoli districts today, according to the Mumbai Regional Meteorological Center.

Heavy rains are expected in Nanded, Parbhani, Hingoli, Jalna on July 14 and in rare places in Nanded, Parbhani, Hingoli, Jalna, Aurangabad, and Latur districts on July 15, they added. (UNI)
