Man threatening to blow collector office arrested

Nanded, May 23 : The Local Crime Branch of police arrested a 25 years aged accused from Ardhapur in the district who sent an email threatening to blow up the Nanded District Collector’s Office, Superintendent of Police’s office and other important offices in the city if Rs 12 crore was not paid, today.
On May 8, an email was received on the e-mail ID of the Collector’s Office stating that 125 bombs were planted in various offices including the District Collector’s Office, the Superintendent of Police’s office and other important offices in the city with a capacity to affect in 1 km radius. The accused demanded a ransom of Rs 12 crore elese the bombs will go off. Only a few people knew what had happened. But an investigation was underway. Dwarkadas Chikhlikar, a police inspector of the local crime branch, was given the responsibility of retrieving the information of the sender of the e-mail with technical help. The accused asked to pay a security tax of Rs 5 crore per month. PI Chikhlikar along with Sub-Inspector Ashish Borate and other officers contacted various international companies and got information about the accused who has been identified as Sheikh Abdul Rafiq Abdul Rauf, resident of Aghapura in Ardhapur.
The process of filing a case against the accused under the Indian Penal Code and Indian Technology Act at the Wazirabad Police Station was going on till evening.(UNI)
