Thane, Feb 19: Agodown of a farsan and wafer manufacturer in Thane city was totally destroyed in a major fire that broke out in the small hours of Friday, officials said.

Chief of the Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) of the TMC SantoshKadam told this correspondent that the fire broke out at around 0220 hrs at the Pepsi and Lays wafer godown in Manpada and it totally destroyed the godown.

Also 12 vehicles loaded with the stock including 5 Tata Ace tempo, 1 three wheeler tempo, 2 Tata Ace Intra, 3 Tata 407 Tempo and one Maruti Carry delivery vehicles were totally destroyed in the incident, he said.

He said that the cause of fire is still not known and the fire has been put out with the help of a couple of fire engines.

The cooling operations will take another four to five hours, said the officer and added that no one was injured in the fire.(UNI)
