Mahashivratri celebrated with religious fervour in Telangana

Hyderabad, Mar 1:Mahashivratri, which marks the marriage of Lord Shiva with Shakti, was celebrated across Telangana with religious fervour on Tuesday. Multitudes of devotees flocked Shiva temples since early morning and offered special poojas to Lord Shiva amid chanting of “om namah Shivaya” mantra. Devout Hindus observed fast, do Jagarana tonight and performed abhishekam and special poojas to Lord Shiva. The famous Raja Rajeshwara Swamy temple in Vemulawada witnessed a massive rush of devotees as the three-day Mahashivratri jathara began. Ministers Indrakaran Reddy and Gangula Kamlakar offered silk clothes to the deities at Vemulawada temple. Meanwhile, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has conveyed his greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of Mahashivratri. In a message, the Chief minister said Hindus observe Mahashivratri by fasting and waking up the night as a symbol of commitment and faith. Mr Rao prayed to Lord Siva to bless people in Telangana and in the country with longevity, peace and happiness. (UNI)
