Pune, May 24 : The highest maximum temperature of 42.5°C was reported at Bramhapuri (Vidarbha) over the plains of the country.
Day temperatures were markedly above normal (5.1°C or more) at most places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura; appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at many places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim; at isolated places over Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha.
They were markedly below normal (-5.1°C or less) at most places over west Rajasthan, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan and Muzaffarabad; at many places over east Rajasthan; at isolated places over Punjab; appreciably below normal (-3.1°C to -5.0°C) at most places over east Madhya Pradesh, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam; at many places over west Uttar Pradesh and Rayalaseema; at a few places over Andaman, Nicobar Islands, Himachal Pradesh, west Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat Region and Vidarbha; below normal (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) at most places over east Uttar Pradesh; at many places over Bihar, Uttarakhand, Marathwada, Chhattisgarh and north interior Karnataka; at a few places over Jharkhand, Madhya Maharshtra, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal; at isolated places over Saurashtra, Kutch and near normal over rest parts of the country.
Hailstorm observed (from 0830 hours IST of yesterday to 0830 hours IST today) at many places over north interior Karnataka; at a few places over Himachal Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal and Madhya Maharashtra; at isolated places over Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, east Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Rayalaseema, Kerala and Mahe.
Duststorm observed at isolated places over west Rajasthan. Hailstorm observed at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh.

Rain or thundershowers have occurred at most places in Andaman and Nicobar Islands and at many places in Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh and north interior Karnataka and at a few places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, Kerala and Lakshadweep and at isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, west Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, east Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Saurashtra and Kutch, Konkan and Goa, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalseema, Tamil Nadu and coastal and south interior Karnataka.
Mainly dry weather prevailed in Jharkhand, Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, west Rajasthan, Vidarbha, Gujarat region and Marathwada.(UNI)
