Maha: Marathwada registers 293 fresh COVID-19 cases, 3 deaths

Aurangabad, Jan 6 : The Marathwada region of Maharashtra recorded 293 fresh COVID-19 cases and 3 related deaths onWednesday, health authorities informed Today.

Reports collected by UNI from the all district headquarters stated that of eight districts in the region, Aurangabad district recorded 120 cases and 2 deaths followed by Latur which had 51 cases and one death,

Nanded district reported 45 cases, Osmanabad had 40 cases, Parbhani had 17 cases, Beed had 12 cases Jalna had six cases and Hingoli had 2 cases, they added.

Meanwhile, during the past 24 hours, 26,538 fresh cases of COVID-19 were recorded across the state, taking the total number of infections to 67,57,032.

The state also registered 8 more COVID deaths overall, taking the death toll to 1,41,581.

Meanwhile,5,331 patients recovered in the state from COVID, pushing the total number of recoveries to 65,24,247. The recovery rate currently stands at 96.87 per cent while the fatality rate is at 2.09per cent.

At present, there are 87,505 active cases across Maharashtra undergoing treatment at different COVID-19 centres and hospitals, the health authorities said.

Meanwhile the state also reported 144 fresh cases of the new vairant Omicron on Wednesday.

With this the tally of Omicron cases climbed up to 797, while 330 patients have been cured so far, they added.(UNI)
