Maha: Marathwada registers 101 fresh COVID cases, 3 deaths

Aurangabad, Jan 3 : The Marathwada region of Maharashtra recorded 101 new COVID-19 cases and three deaths during the past 24 hours, health authorities informed Today.

The district headquarters report stated that of eight districts in the region, Aurangabad district recorded 35 cases and 2 deaths, followed by Parbhani 10 cases and single death, Latur 27 cases, Jalna 10 cases, Nanded 9 cases, Beed 6 cases and Hingoli and Osmanabad reported 2 cases each, they added.

Meanwhile, during the past 24 hours, 11,877 fresh cases of COVID-19 were recorded across the state, taking the total number of infections to 66,99,868.

The state also registered 9 more deaths, taking the death toll to 1,41,542.

On a positive front, 2,069 patients recovered in the state, pushing the total number of recoveries to 65,12,640. The recovery rate currently stands at 97.21 per cent while the fatality rate is 2.12 per cent.

At present, there are 42,024 active cases across Maharashtra undergoing treatment at different COVID-19 centres and hospitals, the health authorities said.

Besides, 50 fresh cases of Omicron variant were also recorded in the state on Sunday.

With these new cases, tally of Omicron rose to 510, of which 193 patients were cured so far, they added.(UNI)
