Maha district’s small farmers benefit from free seeds.
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, June 14 : With the kharif season upon the farmers, and monsoon rains just around the corner, small farmers in this Maharashtra district are relieved by this year’s supply of free seeds from former union minister of state for finance and Rajya Sabha member Dr Bhagwat Karad.
Karad distributed kits of cotton, maize and millet seeds, which are priced at Rs.5,400 in the market, among the small landholders of Andhaner, Hatnoor and Jehur villages in Aurala Zilla Parishad circle of Kannada taluka of the district.
The distribution like all other years, kicked off Thursday, according to a press statement issued by his office on Friday. It is being implemented through Green Globe Foundation this year as well.
Karad said: “I am making a special effort to increase the financial income of the farmers by providing them with quality seeds and also their crop yield. I am determined to provide all help to the farmers in the future as well.”(UNI)
