Maha CM inaugurates 2-day virtual workshop on coronavirus
Mumbai, May 29 : Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said Today that since some diseases and comorbidities occurring during the monsoon season and their symptoms as well that of Covid are the same, doctors should identify the symptoms of Covid in patients coming to them in time and also see if the patients in home isolation are being treated properly or not.
Speaking after inauguration of two-day virtual workshop on coronavirus organized by Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC), he said that as compared to last year when private doctors had kept their dispensaries and hospitals closed for fear of catching Covid infection due to a huge shortage of masks, PPE kits and other medical equipment, they have now come forward to treat the patients during the second wave of pandemic.
Pointing out the difference between the previous wave and the current one, Mr Thackeray said that currently, the infection is spreading very fast by a mutated virus.
The Chief Minister further said that in the second wave, a large number of young people were infected and in the coming third wave, children could be infected, he added.
He expressed serious concern about the rapid spread of mucormycosis or black fungus infection.
Medical Education Minister Amit Deshmukh also spoke on the occasion.
At least 21,500 doctors had registered for this online conference.(UNI)
