Nagpur, Sep 31: A middle-aged woman committed suicide by jumping off the ninth floor of a building in Maharashtra’s Nagpur city, a senior police official said here Today.
According to the official the incident took place on Thursday at Jai Kalpana Building, Ramdaspeth area under jurisdiction of Sitabuldi police station .
The deceased identified as Tanuja alias Pinky Vijay Jaiswal (48), was a resident of Flat No 306, III floor in the same building.
However, the reason why she took this extreme step has not been ascertained so far.
According to the police, Tanuja was unmarried and staying with her mother Laxmidevi (70) and sister Shailja (50) in a flat in the same building.
Tanuja was suffering from depression and around 6.30 am, she went to the ninth floor and jumped out the building.
Sitabulidi police registered a case under section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (police to enquire and report on suicide), said the official adding that further investigation was on.(UNI)
