Thane, May 29 : As many as seven people were buried alive when a five-storied ‘Sai Shakti’ building collapsed at Nehru Chowk in Ulhasnagar township last night.

The incident occurred around 2100 hours the slabs of the flats from the fifth floor right from 504 to 104 crashed and bringing the occupants of the building which was ground plus four. 26-year-old building had a total of 29 flats, the official said.

The deceased were from two families of Chandwani and Bajaj, identified as Punit Bajomal Panjwani, 17, Dinesh Bajomal Panjwani, 40, Deepak Bajomal Panjwani, 42, Mohini Bajomal Panjwani, 65, Krishna Induchand Bajaj, 24, Amruta Induchand Bajaj, 54 and Lovely Bajaj, 20.

Meanwhile, Thane guardian Minister and Minister of Urban Development, Ekanth Shinde said that the state government would give Rs. 5 lakh to the next of the kin who lost their lives in the incident he said.(UNI)
