LS adjourned for the day, amid Oppn protest
New Delhi, Aug 2: After the passage of The General Insurance Business (Nationalisation) Amendment Bill, 2021 by voice vote, proceedings of the Lok Sabha were adjourned for the day Today amid ruckus by the Opposition over various issues, including Pegasus snooping row and new farm laws.
Upon reassembling after the third adjournment at 1530 hrs, the Opposition Members, carrying placards, entered the Well of the House and started sloganeering over the issues.
Amid the din, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman moved the General Insurance Business (Nationalisation) Amendment Bill, 2021 for consideration and passing. Amid the din, the Bill was passed by voice vote.
As the ruckus continued unabated, Rama Devi, who was in the Chair, adjourned the House for the day after the passage of the Bill.
Earlier also, the proceedings were adjourned three times over the same issues.
Upon reassembling after the second adjournment at 1400 hrs, the Opposition Members, carrying placards, entered the Well of the House and started sloganeering over the Pegasus snooping row and new farm laws. Amid the din, Matters under Rule 377 were taken up.
As the ruckus continued unabated, Rama Devi, who was in the Chair, adjourned the House till 1530 hrs.

Kirit Solanki, who was in the Chair, made repeated requests to the Opposition members to return to their seats.
Amid the din, The Tribunals Reforms (Rationalisation and Conditions of Service) Bill, 2021 was withdrawn and The Tribunals Reforms Bill, 2021 was introduced after the Papers were laid on the table of the House.
As the ruckus continued unabated, Dr. Solanki adjourned the House till 1400 hrs after the introduction of the Bill.
As soon as the House assembled for the day, the Lok Sabha congratulated shuttler P V Sindhu for winning the bronze medal in the women’s singles category in the ongoing Tokyo Olympics.
As the Question Hour commenced, the Opposition Members, carrying placards, entered the Well of the House and started sloganeering over the Pegasus snooping row and new farm laws.
Speaker Om Birla ran the Question Hour for nearly 35 minutes amid sloganeering by the Opposition members.
As the ruckus continued unabated, Mr. Birla adjourned the House till 1200 hrs.
Since the start of the Monsoon session, the Opposition members have been protesting over various issues, including the Pegasus snooping row and new farm laws. (UNI)
