Lonikar slams Uddhav govt for cancelling Marathwada water grid project

Aurangabad, Jun 18 : Former water supply Minister and Partur assembly constituency BJP MLA Babanrao Lonikar Today slammed the MVA-led Uddhav Thackeray government for cancelling the Marathwada water grid project total cost of Rs 40,000 crores .
Addressing a press conference here Mr Lonikar said that ,former Chief Minister Devendra Fadanvis, who was very ambitious to change the future of Marathwada, and I myself, as the Water Supply Minister through had allocated Rs 10,000 crore for the Marathwada Water Grid.

But unfortunately the government has changed and the present MVS government has come to power as a farmers’ government but failed to help them.

Last year the MVA government has been made a provision of Rs. 200 crore provision for this project it was very low ,he said adding that the attitude of the this government towards Marathwada is not positive, he accused .
He further said that ,The Thackeray government has rolled out an innovative scheme to supply water to the villages and hamlets by connecting the dams to each other through a state-of-the-art pipeline using state-of-the-art technology.
After the change of government, the Thackeray government withdrew the plan only out of political hatred.
Although years passed under the guise of checking transactions, the wrapped tenders were left in the lurch. As a result, the government scrapped the plan,he added.(UNI)
