Aurangabad / Mumbai, May 12:The Lokmat Media has decided to give Rs 10 lakh each as compensation to the close relatives of the journalists and employees of the group who have died due to coronavirus.
Lokmat is the first media organization in Maharashtra to take such a decision.
Against the backdrop of journalists in the state making various demands to the government, the Marathi Press Council had recently appealed to the owners of the media groups to provide insurance cover and compensation to the relatives of the deceased journalists.
Following which, Lokmat Group today announced their decision in this regard, which was welcomed by the Marathi Press Council.
Mr S M Deshmukh, trustee of Marathi Press Council, in his statement, expressed happiness and thanked Karan Darda and Lokmat Parivar.(UNI)
