LG inaugurates Covid vaccine camps

Puducherry, May 28: Lt Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan Today  inaugurated special covid vaccine camps.
In a bid to make Puducherry COVID free, the administration is organizing special Covid vaccine camps, particularly in rural areas.
Ms Soundararajan inaugurated the Covid vaccine camps at Vaithikuppam and Semmiyanpalayam panchayats, organized by the health department along with the District and Rural Development Agency.
According to a Raj Nivas release, the Lt.Governor on the occasion told news persons that the administration is taking earnest efforts to make Puducherry a 100 percent vaccinated Union Territory.
She urged the elected members to be a part and parcel of the vaccine campaign.
The Lt Governor said those in between 18 and 44 years of age and keen to get themselves vaccinated and such people should create awareness among the people.
COVID could be brought under control with the cooperation of the people, she added.
Ms Soundararajan said the main objective of these camps is to convert the Rural areas into 100 percent vaccinated.
Meanwhile, the participants in the Covid management weekly meeting held at the Raj Nivas here and chaired by the Lt.Governor insisted on extending the present lockdown with relaxations further to bring COVID under control.
The Lt Governor, speaking on the occasion, pointed out the starting of Pulse Oximeter Bank in Karaikal to check the Oxygen level of Covid patients and said that such schemes be fully utilized.
She said that certain particular villages be selected and a door-to-door vaccination camp be conducted.
Proper awareness on the vaccination be created among the public, Ms Soundararajan added.
Chief secretary Ashwini Kumar and other senior officials of the territorial administration took part in the meeting.(UNI)
