Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 9 : Kerala has reported 6,238 fresh Covid-19 cases and 30 deaths Today  showing no respite from rising number of cases in the State.

About 2,390 people have recovered from the disease today, a press release from the health department said this evening.

“Meanwhile, 30 recent deaths were confirmed due to COVID today. About 14 deaths were also added to the list based on appeals seeking its inclusion in the list taking the death toll in the State to 49,591,” the release added.

About 54,108 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. Currently 1,14,773 people are under observation in the State — 1,12,235 are at their homes or institutional quarantine centres and 2,538 in hospitals.

Today, 261 people infected with virus were admitted in hospitals in the State. Weekly Infection Population Ratio (WIPR) is above 10 at six wards where strict restriction is being imposed.(UNI)
