Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 7 : Kerala recorded 5,296 new Covid-19 cases and 35 deaths in the past 24 hours, state health department said Today.

About 2,404 people have recovered from the disease on Friday, a press release from the health department said.
“Meanwhile, 35 recent deaths were confirmed due to COVID today. About 154 deaths were also added to the list based on appeals seeking its inclusion in the list taking the death toll in the State to 49,305,” the release added.
About 64,577 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. Currently, 1,07,164 people are under observation in the State — 1,04,730 are at their homes or institutional quarantine centres and 2,434 in hospitals.
Today, 240 people infected with virus were admitted in hospitals in the State. Weekly Infection Population Ratio (WIPR) is above 10 at six wards where strict restriction is being imposed.(UNI)
