Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 1 :Kerala reported 2,435 fresh COVID positive cases and 22 deaths Today showing no respite from rising number of COVID cases in the State.

About 2,704 people have recovered from the disease today, a press release from the health department said this evening.

“Meanwhile, 22 recent deaths were confirmed due to COVID today. About 219 deaths were also added to the list based on appeals seeking its inclusion in the list taking the death toll in the State to 48,035,” the release added.

About 48,658 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. Currently 1,09,032 people are under observation in the State — 93,190 are at their homes or institutional quarantine centres and 15,842 in hospitals.

Today, 169 people infected with virus were admitted in hospitals in the State. Weekly Infection Population Ratio (WIPR) is above 10 at six wards where strict restriction is being imposed.(UNI)
