Kerala reports 24,166 new COVID cases, 30,539 recoveries: CM

Thiruvananthapuram, May 27 : Covid-19 was detected in 24,166 persons in Kerala Today while 30,539 patients have recovered from the disease, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said.
“In the last 24 hours, Covid was not detected in any person who recently came to Kerala from the UK taking the total to 126, and their samples have been sent to NIV, Pune for further testing. So far, 11 people who came from the UK were diagnosed with the genetically modified virus,” Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan told a press conference here this evening.
Meanwhile, 181 recent deaths were confirmed today as due to Covid taking the death toll in the state to 8,063.
He said 1,35,232 samples were tested during the last 24 hours and the test positivity rate is 17.87 %. Till now, a total of 1,93,04,219 samples have been sent for testing.
Today, no place was identified as new hotspot while any place was also not excluded from the list, taking the total to 880 hotspots in the State.(UNI)
