Kerala reports 22,064 new COVID cases, 16,649 recoveries

Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 29 : Covid-19 was newly detected in 22,064 persons in Kerala on Thursday while 16,649 patients have recovered from the disease, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said.
In a press release here this evening, the CM said “1,63,098 samples were tested during the last 24 hours and the Test Positivity Rate (TPR) is 13.53 %. A total of 2,68,96,792 samples have been sent for testing till this day.”
Meanwhile, 128 recent deaths were confirmed today as due to Covid taking the death toll in the state to 16,585.
Today, 323 Local Self Government areas were identified with TPR above 15 percent in the State.
In the last 24 hours, Covid was not detected in any person who recently came to Kerala from the UK. So far, 11 people who came from the UK were diagnosed with the genetically modified virus.(UNI)
