Kerala reports 162 COVID deaths, 30,077 new positive cases
Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 26 : Showing no respite from rising number of COVID cases and deaths, Kerala Today reported fresh 30,077 positive cases and 162 deaths.
According to a press release from the Health Department this evening, 18,997 people have recovered from the disease today.
About 1,66,397 samples were tested during the last 24 hours and the Test Positivity Rate (TPR) is 18.03 per cent. A total of 3,07,85,443 samples have been sent for testing till this day.
Meanwhile, 162 recent deaths were confirmed as due to Covid taking the death toll in the state to 20,134.
Weekly Infection Population Ratio (WIPR) is above 8 at 346 wards under 68 Local Self Governments (LSGs) where strict restriction is being imposed.
Currently 4,87,246 people are under observation in the state — 4,59,821 are at their homes or institutional quarantine centres and 27,425 in hospitals. Today, 2,890 people were admitted to the hospital with virus Infection.
In the last 24 hours, Covid was not detected in any person who recently came to Kerala from the UK. So far, 11 people who came from the UK were diagnosed with the genetically modified virus.(UNI)
