Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 26 :Showing no respite from rising number of COVID cases and deaths, Kerala today reported fresh 15,951 positive cases and 165 deaths.

About 17,658 people recovered from the disease in the past 24 hours, according to a statement from the health department.

Meanwhile, 165 recent deaths were confirmed today as due to Covid, taking the death toll in the state to 24,603.

About 1,03,484 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. Currently, 4,74,901 people are under observation in the state —

4,53,119 are at their homes or institutional quarantine centres and 21,782 are in hospitals.

Total 1,312 people in the past 24 hours were admitted in the hospital.

Weekly Infection Population Ratio (WIPR) is above 10 at 841 wards where strict restriction is being imposed.

In the last 24 hours, Covid was not detected in any person who recently came to Kerala from the UK. So far, 11 people who came from the UK were diagnosed with the virus.(UNI)
