Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 27 : Showing no respite from rising number of COVID cases and deaths, Kerala today reported fresh 11,699 positive cases and 58 deaths.

About 17,763 people have recovered from the disease today, a press release from the health department said this evening.

Meanwhile, 58 recent deaths were confirmed today as due to Covid taking the death toll in the state to 24,661.

About 80,372 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. Currently 4,78,087 people are under observation in the state — 4,56,821 are at their homes or institutional quarantine centres and 21,266 in hospitals.

In hospitals today, 1,318 people were admitted with virus Infection.

Weekly Infection Population Ratio (WIPR) is above 10 at 841 wards where strict restriction is being imposed.

In the last 24 hours, Covid was not detected in any person who recently came to Kerala from the UK. So far, 11 people who came from the UK were diagnosed with the genetically modified.(UNI)
