Kerala Guv, CM condole death of Gouri Amma
Thiruvananthapuram, May 11:Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday condoled the demise of former Minister and JSS leader K R Gouri Amma, who died due to age old illness at a private hospital here on Tuesday.
In a message, the Governor said “My heartfelt condolences on the demise of former minister and Veteran political leader Gouri Amma.
He said her exceptional courage and inspiring leadership made her a true symbol of woman empowerment.”
Mr Khan said KR Gouri Amma’s struggles to ensure social justice and her contribution to land reforms and industrial growth in Kerala will always be gratefully remembered. “May her soul attain Mukti, he added.
In a message, Mr Vijayan said Comrade K R Gauri was a brave fighter, dedicated her life to end exploitation, build an egalitarian society.
“She made seminal contributions in building the Communist movement and as an administrator. Let’s show respects, by pledging to build a more progressive society. Red Salute!” the Chief Miniser said.
Later, the Governor visited the VJT Hall where her body was kept, and paid last respects to Gouri Amma.
The Chief Minister also paid the last respect to the departed leader. Earlier, the state government issued a special order giving exemption for placing her body at VJT Hall due to COVID protocol and the lockdown. Only 300 people were allowed to visit VJT Hall to pay their last tributes to the woman leader.
Leaders cutting across political lines condoled the death of the senior most women leader.
Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala, former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Senior Congress leader AK Antony, BJP leader O Rajagopal, Ministers including Kadakampally Surendran, MLAs, among others also condoled the demise of Gauri Amma.
Her body will be brought to her native district Alappuzha for cremation.(UNI)
