Kejriwal fails to take concrete steps on pollution in Delhi: BJP

New Delhi, Nov 20 :BJP Today  said the Arvind Kejriwal-led government has failed to keep its words given to the Supreme Court on pollution control by not taking concrete steps in this regard so far.

In a statement here, Delhi state BJP president Adesh Gupta said, “Kejriwal government has miserably failed in this context. The fact is that the state government failed to even identify the real reasons of pollution.”

Gupta said when the Kejriwal government can tell a lie even to the apex court, it would be cheating to expect anything worthwhile from it.

He alleged that the Delhi government was talking hollow by closing schools and colleges for pollution control, whereas the fact was that the real measures to control pollution were simply missing.

On Wednesday, the Delhi government had closed school, colleges and banned the entry of trucks expecting emergency services till further orders.

It also decided to extend work from home for Delhi government employees and the ban on construction and demolition activities till Sunday.

Gupta said the Kejriwal government had to launch an anti-dust campaign, for which 31 teams were constituted, 50 new environment engineers were recruited, a green war room was strengthened, 500 teams were set up to strictly check pollution under control certificates and many other steps were announced, but nothing has come on the ground.

“We have been saying for a while now that the party is ready to work with the state government in tackling the pollution issue, but the Kejriwal government does not seem to be interested at all,” he added.(UNI)
