Kataria emphasises on rain water harvesting
Itanagar, Mar 6 :Emphasising on the importance of rain water harvesting, Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti, Rattan Lal Kataria on Friday said that his Ministry would launch ‘Catch the rain, where it falls and when it falls’ on April 1 next for which preparations are underway.
Addressing a press conference here this morning, the Union Minister said, “We get water from three sources — glacier, surface water and underground water. Our effort is to increase it through the ‘Catch the rain’ campaign.”
“We will cover more than seven departments under the campaign, including the Indian Army, Railways, hospitals, etc,” he said.
He also informed that the Ministry of Urban Affairs has made rainwater harvesting mandatory in all new buildings with a roof area of more than 100 square metre.
On Jal Jeevan Mission (Har Ghar Jal), Kataria informed that 65,431 households in Arunachal have been provided with tap water connections since the launch of the mission.
Mentioning that the State Government has decided to provide 100 per cent tap water connections to all the households in the state by 2023 under the mission, the Minister said, “Work is going on war footing to achieve the target.” (UNI)
