Puducherry, Sep 26 : Following a protest from political parties here, the Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) has withdrawn its notification stating that the free treatment will only be offered to BPL families from October 1.
In a fresh notification issued today, JIPMER clarified that free treatment in OPD will continue including issue of drugs and routine investigations for all patients irrespective of their income as is the current practice. There will be no insistence of BPL card production for registration of a patient by the Medical Records Department.

Emergency treatment will continue free of cost for all patients irrespective of income and patients admitted to the general wards will not be charge for their stay irrespective of their income.(UNI)
