Indian philosophy is the sole solution to global problems. Venkaiah Naidu

GUNTUR (AP), SEP 30 :Former Vice-President of India M Venkaiah Naidu has said that Indian thought is the solution to many challenges faced by the world today.

On the occasion of the birth centenary of eminent Indian philosopher Acharya Kotha Satchidananda Murthy, Venkaiah Naidu attended as chief guest at a special seminar organised by Professor Satchidananda Murthy Centre for Studies in Afro-Asian Philosophy at Nagarjuna University on Monday.

Venkaiah Naidu unveiled the statue of Kotha Sachchidananda Murthy and paid floral tributes. Speaking on the occasion, Venkaiah Naidu said: “The formation of philosophy as a separate discipline in modern education is a matter of great benefit for human development and the development of society. However, making our philosophy a systematic part of the curriculum from early childhood, rather than being limited to a particular component, will be of great benefit to our country in the long run.”

Venkaiah Naidu said: “We have to go back to our roots if we want to grow as a diverse society and if the world has to follow us. We need to change our education system. The new education policy is working in this direction.” The Indian subcontinent has been ahead of the rest of the world in terms of vitality and life consciousness for thousands of years, he highlighted.

There are a lot of secular and non secular schools of thought in India. Concepts of science, logic and spirituality are also present. No other country in the world has such a system. Many great personalities have sacrificed their lives in this holy land to spread the light of philosophy, he acknowledged.

He said that after Shri Jiddu Krishnamurti garu and Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan garu in the 20th century, the great scholar who made Indian philosophy universal was the Kotha Satchidananda Murthy Garu. “Their zeal in acquiring knowledge and sharing it with ten people is an inspiration for today’s generation”, Venkaiah Naidu said.
