Indian Army rescues 447 stranded Tourists from Nathula
Gangtok, Feb 19 : 447 Tourists stranded due to sudden snowfall at Nathula, were rescued by the Indian Army.
Some were stranded on the road while returning from tourist destinations, like Tsongmu and Baba Mandir. As the Vehicles started skidding after the Snowstorm at 15th mile and 17th mile, Army came forward, accommodating tourists in their barracks protecting from Snowstorm and sub-zero temperature.
The Army vehicles brought them to 17th-mile Military camp.
According to Lieutenant Colonel P. Khongsai, (Defence), 26 tourists requiring medical support were hospitalised. There were no major injuries or casualties. Army also provided food, accommodation and medical support.(UNI)
