India wants upcoming parliamentary polls of B’desh to be free, fair & impartial: Doraiswami

DHAKA, SEP 17 : India’s outgoing High Commissioner to Bangladesh Vikram Kumar Doraiswami said, ‘India has always stood by Bangladesh, standing by the people of Bangladesh. We are never on any person’s side, not on anyone’s side.’

He said this to reporters after paying tribute to the brave martyrs at Savar National Memorial on Saturday (September 17) morning.

Vikram Kumar Doraiswami said, ‘We want to see the people of Bangladesh happy. Want their development and want to see a successful democracy. Your democracy is your balanced development.”

He also said, ‘Bangladesh government is committed to make the upcoming elections neutral and fair. India wants to see the upcoming parliamentary elections free, fair and impartial with the participation of all parties.

Doraiswami said he has seen the success of Bangladesh during his tenure so far, “Our friendly relations have improved. That should continue. I want that.’

At that time, Additional Superintendent of Police of Savar Circle Shahidul Islam, Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Ashulia Revenue Circle Anwar Hossain, Sub Divisional Engineer of Savar Public Works Department Al Ahsan Atiq and others were with the Indian High Commission.(UNI)
