India, Vietnam unveil joint logo marking 50 years of diplomatic ties

New Delhi, June 18 : Celebrating 50 years of diplomatic relations between India and Vietnam, a joint logo was unveiled, representing a peacock and a crane, the birds of national importance in the two countries.

The logo was unveiled on the sidelines of the Special ASEAN-India Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in New Delhi, on Friday by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and the Foreign Minister of Vietnam Bui Thanh Son.

The logo has been selected jointly by the two sides through a contest open for nationals of both countries.

The image represents long-standing friendship between India and Vietnam symbolically through a peacock and a crane, the birds of national importance in the two countries respectively. It also includes the numeral 50 to denote the 50 years of diplomatic relations and the national flags of India and Vietnam at its Centre.

MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi, in a tweet said:

“Celebrating the long-standing friendship between India & Vietnam, between the peacock & the crane!

“On margins of the Special ASEAN-India Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, EAM @DrSJaishankar

& FM @FMBuiThanhSon launched the joint logo commemorating 50years of India-Vietnam diplomatic relations.”

The EAM in a tweet said:

“Delighted to meet @FMBuiThanhSon at the new Embassy building of Vietnam in New Delhi.

Our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has made significant progress.

“Recognized advancements in our political, defence, economic, energy and development cooperation.”(UNI)
