Lucknow, Apr 22 : The festival of Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated with full enthusiasm in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday during which prayers were offered with full devotion in EIdgah and mosques across the state amidst tight security arrangements.
People congratulated each other after namaz and a lot of enthusiasm was visible among children and youth during the festival. “Namaz of Eid-ul-Fitr was offered at 29,439 mosques along with 3,865 Eidgah in the state,” sources said.
Sources said a total of 2,933 sensitive places or hotspots were identified and police arrangements were made in 849 zones and 2,460 sectors. “249 companies of PAC, 3 companies of SDRF, 5 companies of CAPF and 7,000 under-training Sub-Inspectors (for field exposure training) were provided from the headquarter level and were deployed under the leadership of a gazetted officer,” they said.
Sources said that teams of women and police personnel in plain clothes with body-worn cameras were deployed on the occasion.
“Monitoring of sensitive places was done through drone cameras and high resolution CCTV cameras. Intensive patrolling was done continuously by 4,800 PRV vehicles of UP-112. 1,785 QRT teams with riot control equipment, sticks, helmets, body protectors, cane shields, tear gas guns, anti riot guns, water cannons and Vajra vehicles were deployed at identified hotspots and strategic points,” they said.
Police sources said that special action was taken against rumour-mongerers by activating and alerting the intelligence network and social media cell.(UNI)
