NEW DELHI, JUNE 25 :  Congress Lok Sabha MP from Rae Bareli, Rahul Gandhi, has been appointed the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Lower House, party General Secretary KC Venugopal said here on Tuesday.

Addressing the media Venugopal said, “The CPP Chairperson wrote a letter to the Pro-tem Speaker, Bhartruhari Mahtab, informing him of the decision to appoint Rahul Gandhi as the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha.”

He further said that other office bearers will be decided later.

It may be mentioned that the Congress held its extended Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting on June 8 where a resolution requesting Rahul Gandhi to take up the position of Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha was unanimously passed.(UNI)
