JAMMU, JAN 18 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to inaugurate the modern technology laced new complex of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) constructed at Jagati in Nagrota area in the city outskirts. The new building has come up nearby IIT Jammu.
According to administrative sources, the Jammu IIM equipped with modern infrastructure and technology of Indian Research Institute is almost ready and is expected to be inaugurated by Modi probably in the month of February.
“PM Modi is expected to inaugurate the complex next month but confirmed dates are yet to be received,” said an official.
“Started with 47 MBA students in 2016, the Jammu IIM has been built on 200 acres of land on which about Rs 500 crore has been spent,” they said.
“The state-of-the-art infrastructure has been developed in the new campus and has many facilities including modern labs which will provide students with good opportunities for learning and an activity-filled campus life,” said an official.
He said that IIM Jammu is the second IIM after IIM Nagpur, which has prepared its permanent campus for operation in the beginning of seven years.
The academic session will commence from 2024-25 and IIM Jammu will conduct classes for MBA 2024-26 batch in the new permanent building.
IIM Jammu is the 20th IIM, which has graduated six batches and was initially associated with IIM Lucknow.
The strength of the MBA batch at the present campus has reached 240 students and is expected to increase further with the inauguration of the permanent campus of IIM Jammu.(UNI)
