CHAIBASA (JHARKHAND), DEC 1: Two COBRA jawans were injured in an encounter with the CPI Maoists in the bordering areas of Tonto and Goeilkera Police Station area of West Singhbhum district on Thursday.

Police sources claimed that both the jawans have been airlifted to Ranchi for better medical aid. Moreover, an additional police force has been also sent to the spot. Senior officials of Chaibasa Police are also camping in the area.

Chaibasa SP Ashutosh Shekhar said that information had been received that Special Area Committee Member of the CPI Maoists Ajay Mahto, who is carrying a reward of Rs 25 lakh on his head was camping in the Tonto area.

Based on the information the security forces started to search and combing operations in the area. Upon seeing the jawans inside the dense forest the ultras opened fire which was retaliated back.

At the time of the filing of the story, the encounter between the two sides was on.
