In Baramulla, the General Bipin Rawat Memorial Cricket Tournament’s second edition kicks off in 2024.

SRINAGAR, JULY 15 :  The second edition of General Bipin Rawat Memorial Cricket Tournament 2024 and the 10th edition of BPL-24 are set to captivate cricket enthusiasts in the picturesque town of Baramulla in north Kashmir as it pays homage to the late General.

The Army said this is yet another initiative for the people, providing wings to the aspirations of young cricketers’ hopefuls of donning the Indian blues.

The event is being organised under the aegis of Baramulla based Army’s Dagger Division, the Himalayan Brigade Baramulla Rashtriya Rifles.

The T20 cricket championship is being organised from July 15 July to 15 August promises to be a fitting tribute to the former Chief of Defense Staff and aims to promote the values of discipline, teamwork, and patriotism, which General Bipin Rawat exemplified throughout his illustrious career.

“The zeal and enthusiasm of the youths is overwhelming and the same is visible with the number of participating teams,” they said.

The event opened its doors with a spectacular opening ceremony at Gen Bipin Rawat Stadium by Commander Himalayan Brigade in the presence of Amod Ashok Nagpure, SSP Baramulla.

The dignitaries encouraged the participants to make use of this golden opportunity and to derive maximum benefits out of the sports events organised by the Indian Army.

As part of the opening ceremony a total of four matches were played on Day 1 in which FCC Fathepura, Khanpora Phaktoon,United Star Baramulla & AL Qadoos won their respective matches.(UNI)
