In a first, UPSC opens applications for women candidates for NDA

New Delhi, Sep 24 : Going by the order of the Supreme Court to allow women to appear for the National Defence Academy exams, the Union Public Service Commission, which conducts the exams, opened applications for ‘unmarried women candidates’ Today. The exams will be held on November 14.

The application window will remain open for women candidates from today till 6 pm on October 8, an official statement said.

The move comes a day after government’s request to allow women candidates to sit for the National Defence Academy entrance exam only in May 2022 was rejected by the Supreme Court.

An official statement said in compliance with the Supreme Court’s interim direction permitting the women candidates to take part in the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination, UPSC has decided to open the online portal of application on its website – upsconline.nic.in for applications by “unmarried women candidates only”.

In an interim order on August 18, the Supreme Court allowed female candidates to appear for the National Defence Academy (NDA) examination.(UNI)
