Belagavi, Mar 21‌ : Belagavi Excise Department officials on Sunday seized illegally transporting Goa-made liquor bottles worth Rs 4.40 lakh at Baknuru village of Belagavi taluka.
Excise Department officials have also seized the vehicle carrying the bottles.
According to official sources, a strict vigil on Karnataka- Goa border is kept to prevent smuggling of liquor from neighbouring state in view of the Belagavi Lok Shabha by-election.
According to official press statement, the vehicle driver Mohd Kalam was taken into custody and further investigations were on.(UNI)
