Hyderabad, Oct 21 : The two-day National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of Indian Journalists Union (IJU) will be held at Tourism Plaza in Begumpet here from October 23.
The NEC meeting will be held physically after a long gap in Hyderabad and for the first time after the formation of Telangana state.
In a statement here on Thursday, IJU Presideent K Sreenivas Reddy said, the meeting will be attended by almost all states and Union Territories including Asom and Ladakh.
The NEC meeting will deliberate on the issues concerning the profession of journalism, freedom of the press, growing attacks on working journalists and media houses and safety and security of journalists in the country, he said.
Minister for Excise, Tourism and Sports V Srinivas Goud and Mr B Vinod Kumar, Vice-Chairman, Telangana State Planning Board will address the two-day meeting.
Telangana State Union of Working Journalists (TUWJ) is hosting the meeting, the statement added.(UNI)
